Something Rotten! Jr. is a hilarious musical comedy set in the Renaissance, where two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, struggle to write a hit play in the shadow of Shakespeare’s fame. Desperate for success, they create the world's first musical—a bold, song-and-dance-filled masterpiece! Packed with witty dialogue, catchy tunes, and clever references to classic theater, Something Rotten! Jr. is a fun-filled show that celebrates the joys of creativity, sibling rivalry, and following your dreams.

Please note, that while there is some content in the full version of Something Rotten that would be considered inappropriate for students, this is the “Junior” version that is specifically designed for younger performers and the content is adapted and edited to be more appropriate.

As part of our mission, Servant Stage tours our performances to many retirement communities, churches, and other venues across the region. Most of these are private performances, but the above touring shows are open to the public.

LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL is a stage adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel, which follows the lives of the four March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate personal growth, family bonds, love, and loss during the Civil War era. With music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and a book by Allan Knee, the musical highlights the strength, ambition, and creativity of the sisters, particularly Jo, the aspiring writer. It combines heartwarming moments with an uplifting score, capturing the timeless themes of resilience, hope, and the pursuit of dreams.

SWING! is a high-energy Broadway musical that celebrates the vibrant dance and music style of swing, a genre that became popular in the 1930s and '40s. Featuring a series of dance numbers rather than a traditional narrative, the show highlights the athleticism and excitement of swing dancing, from jitterbug to lindy hop. With music ranging from jazz standards to more contemporary takes, SWING! showcases the incredible talents of both dancers and musicians, creating an electrifying atmosphere that captures the spirit and joy of this classic American art form.

With an enchanting score by Stephen Sondheim, this junior version explores what happens when wishes come true—sometimes with unexpected consequences. As the characters journey through the woods, they learn important lessons about family, friendship, and responsibility.

  A Tale of Two Cities is based on the novel by Charles Dickens and is set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution. It explores themes of sacrifice, redemption, resurrection, and human nature. A brief synopsis can be found here: https://origintheatrical.com.au/work/5468

  We believe this is an important historical story that fits well with Servant Stage's goal to present shows that will "inspire, educate, challenge, and entertain." However we want our audiences to be aware that there are mature themes and the show will not be appropriate for all people. If this was a movie it would probably be rated PG or PG-13.

  Death/Violence/War: There is no graphic violence, but themes of war, death, beheadings, and murder are part of the story. Multiple deaths and murders are portrayed in a stylized theatrical manner and without blood.

  Adult Behavior: There is social drinking and one character drinks to excess. A few brief onstage kisses.

  Language: The word "hell" is used in the phrase "cursed straight to hell." The word "damned" is used in the phrase "the damned unforgivable Marquis" and the word "ass" is used in the phrase "you were an ass again."

Anastasia: The Musical is the spectacular new musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be. - - - From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

After registering, students will be asked to sign up for a 5-minute audition time slot on December 12 or 13 from 5:00-9:30pm. All students will be cast in the show, these auditions simply help the production team in assigning roles to the students.

Schedule:

This winter youth production rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays (6-9pm) and Sundays (3-9pm) from January 2-25 with an additional tech rehearsal on Wednesday, January 24 (6-9pm). The performances for family and friends will be Friday, January 26 at 7pm; Saturday, January 27 at 3pm and 7pm; Sunday, January 28 at 3pm.

Location:

Rehearsals will take place at Lancaster County Christian School (2390 New Holland Pike, Lancaster) and performances and dress rehearsals will take place at Leola Elementary School (11 School Drive, Leola)

Featuring a cast of four professional actors, Lift Ev’ry Voice tells the story of black history in the United States through stories, quotes, and songs. Highlighting the many voices throughout US history who have spoken out for equality for people of all races, Lift Ev’ry Voice encourages each of us to raise our voice to defend the defenseless and speak out for justice for our fellow man.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

As part of our mission, Servant Stage tours our performances to many retirement communities, churches, and other venues across the region. Most of these are private performances, but the above touring shows are open to the public.

Back by popular demand for a limited tour! I’ll Fly Away features a live folk band, stunning vocalists, and beautiful renditions of some of the most famous and inspirational songs ever written! Disney's Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony-Award winner Harvey Fierstein. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right.
